Akram Zaatari

Akram Zaatari,
Born in Saida (Lebanon) 1966
lives and works in Beirut

Zaatari’s practice is tied to the practice of researching and studying existing documents. He is interested in looking at the present through a wealth of past photographic records. His work in film and photography reflects on the shifting nature of borders and the production and circulation of images in the context of the current political divisions in the Middle East. He is a co-founder of the Arab Image Foundation. He represented Lebanon at the Venice Biennial in 2013, and took part of Documenta13 in 20012. His recent Solo Exhibitions include MACBA, Barcelona 2017, Kunsthaus Zurich, 2016, Moderna Museet, Stockholm 2015, Salt, Istanbul 2014 and MoMA, NY 2013
His feature films include, Twenty-Eight Nights and A Poem, 2015 and This Day, 2003
