MEPPI alumnus The Fouad Debbas Collection exhibit at the Beirut Photo Fair

During this September's Beirut Photo Fair, alongside contemporary photographic works, an exhibition of a selection of artifacts, prints and reproductions from The Fouad Debbas Collection (a MEPPI alumnus) was also offered to visitors. It was an important chance for the Lebanese gallery-goers to connect with their heritage: not only photographic heritage but also architectural heritage, as several pieces depicted Beirut as it was over a century ago, almost unrecognisable in scale from the city it has become.

Daguerrotype workshop at the photo museum of Tehran

A one day Daguerreotype workshop was held in the Photo Museum of Tehran in June 2th - 2013, proposed by photo historian Mohammad Reza Tahmasbpour:

The workshop covered:

Introduction to the materials and chemicals used in the Daguerreotype process.
Creating a procedure "Doug M" (Digital Daguerreotype), making protective liquid & film Daguerreotype instead of Chloride Golding, coined "Doug device maker" (Exposure Unit) for use in a digital way Daguerreotype.

Special Issue of Journal History of Photography : The First Hundred Years of Iranian Photography

 

MEPPI participant, Mohammad Reza Tahmasbpour recently authored an article entitled 'Photography in Iran: A Chronology' which was published in a special issue of the journal History of Photography, 'The First Hundred Years of Iranian Photography' (Volume 37, Issue 1, 2013)
